Connect Smooth Move to your assistant
Smooth Move runs a public MCP server. Add this URL as a custom connector:
https://www.smoothmove.io/api/mcp- Claude: Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, then paste the URL. No sign-in needed.
- ChatGPT: in a plan with developer mode or custom connectors enabled, add a connector with the URL above. No authentication.
- Other MCP clients (Cursor, VS Code, Claude Code and others): add it as a remote "Streamable HTTP" server. For example, in Claude Code:
claude mcp add --transport http smooth-move https://www.smoothmove.io/api/mcp
No connector? Just ask. Most assistants can read our pages directly, starting from smoothmove.io/llms.txt.
What your assistant can do
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
estimate_move_cost | A moving cost estimate for any two US ZIP codes, with the reasons behind the number. |
find_movers | Moving companies that serve your route, with their Google and Yelp ratings. |
start_quote_request | Starts a free quote request and gives you a link to choose movers and confirm. |
list_moving_guides / read_moving_guide | Our guides on costs, packing, hiring movers, scams and checklists. |
about_smooth_move | How Smooth Move works, makes money and handles your details. |
You stay in control of your details
An assistant can start a request, but it can't send one. When it calls start_quote_request, it gets back a link for you. Nothing goes to any mover until you open that link, choose up to three movers, create your account and confirm your email. If you never click, no mover ever sees your information.
Things to try
- "What would it cost to move my 2-bedroom from 94110 to 95060 on July 12?"
- "Which movers does Smooth Move have for Oakland to San Jose, and how are they rated?"
- "Get me quotes for that move. My name is … and my email is …"
- "What red flags should I watch for when hiring a moving company?"
For AI developers and crawlers
- Site map for language models: /llms.txt, full text of every guide: /llms-full.txt.
- Every guide is also available as markdown: add
.mdto its URL, e.g. /advice/costs/how-much-do-movers-cost.md. - The calculator takes URL parameters:
/price-calculator?originZip=94110&destinationZip=95060&homeSize=two_bed&moveDate=2026-07-12 - AI crawlers are welcome. See our robots.txt.
- Please credit "Smooth Move" and link the page you used. Methodology: how our estimates work.
